A Boston-area native, bandleader Mark Greel began his professional career with a three-year tour with the 79th US Military Show Band stationed in Panama Canal Zone, Central America. This tour included performances in every country in Central and South America, as well as numerous radio and national television appearances including a private performance for former President Jimmy Carter. After his military service, Mark attended the internationally renown Berklee School of Music in Boston as a scholarship student majoring in arranging and composition, and received The Lee Berk Award for Outstanding Academics and Instrumental virtuosity.
The Mark Greel Band offers instrumentations that include four to ten pieces. In addition, with an expansive repertoire that includes Salsa, Merengue, Bossa Nova, Samba, Mambo, Calypso, Socca, and Afro-Cuban, “Sambita” fuses these traditional dance forms with a smooth jazz feel.
With The Mark Greel Band and Sambita, Mark has performed for a numerous variety of high-profile Boston events including the wedding of former Governor Mitt Romney’s son and is frequently requested by event professionals for their personal parties.
